Our extreme volatility continues this week as the heavens prepare us for the entry of Pluto into Capricorn and the life altering changes that will bring. Mercury stops, stations in the sky, and turns to move forward on Wednesday. Expect very important information to arrive in your life. It will be part and parcel of the next phase of your journey as the Messenger God Mercury pauses to speak directly to you.

You may not like what Mercury says. Don’t go killing the messenger. Listen to him!

Mercury, currently in Libra is first answering to Venus in Scorpio and ultimately ruled by Mars in Scorpio. Scorpios, when not acting in their “higher” forms can be vindictive, cruel and quite difficult. Scorpios acting in their higher forms can be incredibly helpful, probing, insightful, wise and kind. Scorpios range from killers to healers as both the Mob and Surgeons fall under their broad wings.

So through the end of the week, it will be turbulent, rocking and rolling. Once Mercury starts to go forward, towards the end of the week, it will start to calm down a bit. We have a full Moon on Tuesday that is a super duper Scorpio face off of Scorpio energy as BOTH the Sun and the Moon answer to that Mars in Scorpio. Expect rockets, sirens and craziness. The Sun in Libra, a sign he hates, answers to Mars by first going through Venus in Scorpio, her least favorite sign. The Moon in Aries, a warlike, killer and aggressive Moon, answers to Mars in Scorpio. Going to be a volatile, crazed and emotionally difficult week. But then, you already knew that, didn’t you?

There is activity with the Nodes of destiny in the week ahead that will help you clarify your future direction and what you are to do in this lifetime. Or the energy will clear up what will happen in the next chapter of your life as Pluto goes through Capricorn. Chiron joins with the North Node as Sun in Libra clears the energy by aspecting Neptune and Chiron in easy flowing aspects. So give yourself time in the week ahead to pay attention to the messages that come from the heavens and the world around you. Embedded in every ending are the seeds of the new beginning.

At the end of the week, on Saturn’s day, Venus enters Sagittarius. Venus’s transition out of dark, fixed water into changing fire energy will escalate and expand her energy. It could be good as perhaps it will stabilize the financial and values energy for a brief bit as Jupiter, ruler of Sagittarius, is in Capricorn. Maybe a better word would be Jupiter will bring the energy down to earth and ground it in solidness and firmness.

In the weeks ahead, we move into the building opposition between Saturn and Uranus that perfects on Election Day, November 4. That will be pushing at and against the last remnants of stuff from Pluto in Sagittarius, trying to get the journey of our last 14 years, since 1995, out of our current lives and into our pasts. So assist the planets where you can. Help move things forward in incremental, precise, analytical, Virgo small ways. It doesn’t have to be “BIG” changes. Little changes are perfectly fine. If you change each of your habits a teeny tiny bit towards what you want to create, that will move things in teeny tiny ways towards the next place. No revolutionary changes are needed! Only bring a willingness to do the work and show up. Only a teeny tiny change will move things forward towards the next chapter. Show up. Assist the heavens. Do the work that is before you. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It does need to get out the door. And it needs to get out the door sooner as opposed to later.

Saturn co-rules that North Node, Neptune and Chiron in Aquarius. Saturn’s pushing on each of those planets, with an ADJUSTING ASPECT and asking us to LIVE IN THE MOMENT. Saturn is in charge of each of those planets and asking them to evolve into our next chapter and take us with them. Right now, Saturn is focusing on small incremental parts to get the mix right. Once he’s got the recipe perfected, he’ll get busy constructing it AFTER Pluto moves into Capricorn.

Renovating any sign, which is what Pluto does when he enters a sign or touches a planet, requires first a decay or destruction and subsequent removal of the old structures and ways of doing things. We are witnessing the beginnings of that transformation of Pluto into Capricorn on a societal level now as corporations and governments around the world struggle to work with Pluto’s energy.

And, there is a similar process going on some where in your life ~ in your Capricorn house. So ASSIST the Pluto transformation process. Jump in to help work with the energy. Work with it using a willingness to show up, do the work and release it or move it forward. Don’t stop the changes. Don’t worry about getting things perfect. Focus on “good enough”. Get it out the door and into the next place. In fact, the negative side of Virgo is Worry. So look at those WORRIES of yours, recognize them for what they are. Saturn is in the sign of Worry. There isn’t anything you can do about what is going on but assist, with incremental changes of your own, the process of the transformation that our societies and we are in the process of undergoing.

You are going to be all right! What do you actually NEED? Food? Do you have $5 to buy a slice of pizza and a beer? Good. Go eat. Then, once you are done, ask yourself what YOU need to do. What do YOU need to focus on? What or how can you DO your SATURN today? Go do your Saturn. It will take away the fear. Honest.

When you feel afraid, go do your Saturn. The more you do your Saturn, the better you will feel. Honest. What ever your Saturn is by sign and house placement, do him. What ever your Saturn is in aspect to other planets in your chart ~ work with those Planets too. They will help you do your Saturn. Go buy a good book on key words OR google on the Internet the characteristics of the house and sign placement of your Saturn. Pick words from each list and make a list up of possible Saturn words for yourself. Do them every day, as many as you can, to do your Saturn.

The whole point of energy is to think of energy as a container of water that you can use in a myriad of ways. If you drink part of the water, pour part a bit into a plant, share a cup or two with your family, friends and pets, wash your hands and face with a bit and then clean the kitchen floor with part of the water, you’ve used up a significant amount of that container of water! That means, when Pluto gets around to checking in on the water, there is less of it to spill AND thus less, for you to clean up. Think of your Saturn as your Water. Do as much activity described by your Saturn as you can. Pluto is soon to be in Saturn’s sign. If you do your Saturn, you are spending or using your Saturn’s energy so Pluto has less to work with. Do your Saturn. Obsessively. Compulsively. As much as you can.

The other thing to know is the energy for the week ahead is very swirled, swarming and volatile. There isn’t anything you can do about it. Take the advice offered to swimmers caught in an ocean riptide! Don’t struggle against the energy. Let the energy carry you to where it will. Watch it. Notice it. Observe it. Don’t struggle against the energy! Once the energy starts to drop off or dissipate, then see where you are. Swim sideways to leave the current and make your way to shore. As long as you don’t struggle against it until you are exhausted and drown, you will be fine.

Moon’s day or Monday finds Mercury getting very valuable if NOT necessarily desired or wanted information from Venus, the ruler of money, desire, valuables and what is important to us. Pallas finds her strategy to help people feel nurtured is NOT working. It is TIME FOR A CHANGE in your strategy. Venus is stepping up to support partners that she previously would not have supported. Think arm around your shoulder when you are having a tough time. Shoulder to cry on. It is there if you look for it. You do, however, have to look. No missile silo of isolation for you. Moon’s entry into Aries makes everyone MUCH more warlike, fighting, angry or desiring to be first. Remember that Aries Moon is ruled by Scorpio! Passions and emotions of the public and People are high, high, high.

Tuesday or Mars’ day finds a Full Moon in Aries. Read the Full Moon report on this site for more information on how to work with the Full Moon’s energy. The Sabian images for the Full Moon are “The Gate to the Garden of Desire” and “A Child Giving Birds a Drink at a Fountain.” Mercury speaks to the Nurturing energy in each of us today asking us to nurture what is important in our lives while Venus asks us to discard that which no longer supports, cares for or nurtures us. Or we can release a primal piece of the mothering and nurturing energy we are expending in other places. If we’ve been doing the mothering rather than doing what we are called to do, it is time to refocus on our path. If we’ve been wrapping up old journeys of the heart, it is time for a celebration of sorts. Sun’s flowing and peacemaking trine to Neptune lets the energy become clearer, cleaner and a bit more spiritually driven towards our soul’s evolution. Pick higher rather than lower energy if given a choice today. Passion. Passion. Passion.

Wednesday or Mercury’s day, Mercury stations at 7 Libra with the Sabian Image of a Blazing Fireplace in a Deserted Home. Your home is where? What are the Passions of your Soul? (see your Saturn by sign and house placement). Mercury and Mars are talking today and working out what Mercury is supposed to pick up and bring with him to help Mars in his forward movement. Pay VERY close attention to what you hear, learn, suspect or see today (or the couple of days around today). It will be important for your future. Mercury will catch up with Mars a day or so AFTER Pluto enters Capricorn at the end of November. Mercury and YOU are getting important instructions today about Pluto’s journey through Capricorn and from Mars. PAY ATTENTION! Intensity. Intensity. Intensity.

Jupiter’s or Thursday has an enlightening quality to it. Even though the Moon is in Taurus, it is still throbbing to the Passion of Venus in Scorpio ruled by Mars in Scorpio. Passion. Passion. Passion. Chiron lands on the North Node making our old wounds active. Our wounds are where are strengths come from. Aside from guiding our lives, we act in accordance with our wounds or against them. It is time for healing the old wounds when Chiron hits the North node. The time for unhooking the fishhook from your Heart chakra is now. Time to let the hurt fall away. Even if you cut the line to the hook, attempt to free yourself today from being tied. Tie to what you want to tie to. Release from ties that bind. Passion. Passion. Passion.

Friday Sun lights up and joins with the wound by sky declination. Make sure to look at your wound clearly and see its parameters, size, depth and colors. Your wound is part of you. Embrace it. Don’t deny it. Venus ruler of desires has an aspect of brilliance to Saturn and argues with Pluto ~ Intensity boils over today. People are going to be rocking and rolling. It is completely okay to take yourself off the hook today. The Moon in Gemini is ruled by Mercury in Libra, answering to Venus in Scorpio and ultimately Mars in Scorpio ~ still more passion and intensity all over the place today. Very unbound passions.

Saturn’s day Mars joins with Neptune by declination and on some level, finally exhausts himself, freeing himself from all the fear flying around. Things will begin to settle down now. Sun wakes up with a brilliant idea and decides what he wants to do moving forward. Pursue the plans of the Sun even if you are not sure where or what you are doing. Moon in Gemini still throbs with passion, although not decisive passion, passion nonetheless. There is an emotional separation that takes place today that can be difficult. Mercury starts to move forward with a bit more speed to help that Moon in Gemini be a bit more productive and not so crazed. Mars fights with Vesta pushing hard and fast on and against the home and hearth energy. Both Mars and Vesta are ultimately answering to Scorpio but the home and hearth part is going to lose as Mars conquers her desires. Venus enters Sagittarius ~ that change alone will shift the focus of her energy to a broader and wider vision of what is possible. It will move her out of the fear place where she’s been hanging out and into the freedom place. Our planet in charge of love and desire will lift her head up from her immersion in the swamp energy of the past few weeks. Venus will start to move toward a better version of her energy. The shift in Venus’ energy will help both the Sun and Mercury be more positive in their outlook as they are in signs ruled by Venus in a happier and more optimistic version.

The Sun’s day, or Sunday offers one last emotional whomp as the Moon in Cancer harshly aspects the Nodes on the World axis. Expect things to have an extra emotional kick today. I know it FEELS like the emotions are simply swarming all week. And they are. It is time to survey the possible. Time to move out of fear. Time to move forward. Moon in Cancer, after the week we had, will have a bit of trouble feeling optimistic. Her security needs are deeply threatened. On some level, because the changes will feel more “settled”, Moon will be able to calm down a bit.

Mundane and Personal: Regarding the myriad and varied complaints I received about my political comments last week in the Mundane section ~ “It was a joke people! Satire? Yes, Satire! Those were Saturn in Virgo comments! And they were meant as Satire!”

Of course, in this volatile, crazed cosmic climate why I would decide to use “old and doddering” or “PMS and emotional” in my analogies is beyond me! What was I thinking? Much less listen to TV ads that say “consorts with terrorists and might be an Arab” or “had two brain aneurysms and lives in the state with the most liberal rules for evil corporations.”

I should have known better! <wink>

For what it is worth, I signed up for a charter subscription to MS magazine the minute it was offered. While in my Catholic All Girls Our Lady of Mercy High School, I forced my mother to read Betty Friedan’s The Feminine Mystique. I worked in “male” professions for many years ~ Outside Sales and Information Technology. I often was the only estrogen dominant person in the room. I mention it whenever I heard a “click”. I, too, wanted a wife after reading that essay in Ms. Magazine. Who wouldn’t?

I like and respect all sorts of older people, including the doddering, drooling, dripping, forgetting or other kinds. I visited shut-ins as a Girl Scout. I hail taxis for people with white hair almost every day as I live across the street from a nursing home. I count many sixta, septa, and octa generians as friends. My various ancestors, on both sides, lived well into their middle 90s ~ all of whom I actively sought to spend quality time with.

And, yes, I believe I am a reasonably evolved Virgo, Eric! But, as Oscar Wilde once said, “No one questions their own intelligence or their point of view.”

The point of last week’s column was to say 1) with a known transit like Saturn opposite Uranus taking place 5, count them 5, times between now and June 2010 AND 2) the FIRST, initiating, starting opposition taking place, to the MINUTE on Election Day WHICH 3) seeds the energy of the opposition for each of us, THEREFORE we can anticipate massive changes in the elected leadership and direction of our country. We can expect it BECAUSE the FIRST opposition is TAKING PLACE ON ELECTION DAY. The changes described by the opposition which start on Election Day will unfold between NOW and JUNE 2010.

Saturn in Virgo, the old way and the fellow in charge of the old guard, will move aside for the new way, Uranus in Pisces, to step in. Do a bit of historical research about what went on in the 1960s, the last time this opposition took place. Talk to folks you know who were BORN in the middle 1960s about the myriad of changes that went on during their early childhoods and the role(s) of their fathers or authority figures. Or go back in increments of 40 years to observe the revolutions that took place in society each and every time these two fellows, Saturn and Uranus, face each other across the sky. Use Google and a history time line ~ you’ll be amazed at what you see!

And, NO, I am NOT predicting the deaths or assassinations of any of our leaders ~ although that IS what happened in the 1960s. And while those things could happen again with these aspects, it doesn’t mean they will. BECAUSE the leader (Saturn) has to, opposition, separate, step aside or change (Uranus)~ we have the example of Lyndon Johnson who chose NOT to run for a second term as President even though he was the sitting president.

We KNOW we can expect fundamental and structural CHANGES in the leadership and direction of our country~ yes indeed! Uranus is exceptionally unpredictable. He likes to mix it up, give us a bit of chaos, and cause change.

For all I know, it could be the collapse, Uranus, of the structures (Saturn) that we built to support us during our old age (Saturn). See the stock market lose 18% in a week.

For all I know, it could be the ascent of a culture of responsibility, taking turns, counting, working, being “fair” and productive that Saturn in Virgo represent in service to the greater community (Uranus) of people with less than you have. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

For all I know, because URANUS is exceptionally unpredictable, it COULD be the ascent and implementation of extremely conservative viewpoints and profoundly fundamentalist Christian “values” across our nation!

Fascism comes wrapped in a flag, carrying a cross with a dogmatic belief system. Our future could include witch hunters, like Sarah Palin’s You-tube Kenyan priest laying hands on and praying over Sarah while warning the rest of the congregation about danger from witches. That priest of Sarah’s hunted witches over in Kenya for heaven’s sake!

It could happen here. Changes happen very easily in a climate of fear, economic collapse and people seeking leadership or guidance. Look at what happened in Germany in the 1930s when their economy collapsed. Go read the Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwater to see how easy it would be to “change things over”. Then go watch the fear based people yelling at McCain’s rallies last week. It is SO easy to motivate people via fear. When people are afraid, they do strange things. Heck, even when people are NOT afraid, they do strange things!

Uranus is in Pisces, the sign of beliefs and Christian religions. Note the Pisces Fish symbol that matches the Christian Fish imagery ~which replaced the worshipped Golden Calf of Aries. The Aries symbol that preceded Pisces, is found throughout the Old Testament of the Bible in the form of a Vengeful God who demanded blood sacrifice and complete obedience. The previous Pagan and Earth based religions were eliminated in favor of a dominator, strength makes right model of a patriarchal, solitary and masculine God. Where are all the girls in that model?

Change. Change. Change.

We are precessing the equinoxes of our Solar System out of the constellation of Pisces into the constellation of Aquarius. The dawning of the Age of Aquarius is here!

Pluto in Capricorn is going to fundamentally change the world. Capricorn rules governments, corporations, security, banks and the structures we’ve built that we rely on. All of those are undergoing revolutionary changes even as we watch our daily news broadcasts as stock markets around the world collapse before our wondering eyes.

It takes a lot to not be afraid at times like this. Fear is a Saturn word. Saturn is in the room! Fear is in the room!

So, go and do your Saturn! That is how to alleviate the fear.

Do your Saturn each and every day.

That will calm you down and help you navigate through the times ahead. Doing your Saturn each and every day will help you be less afraid.

Your Saturn represents your WORK in this lifetime. Saturn represents what you incarnated to DO while you were here on Planet Earth. The MORE you do your Saturn, the easier the transit of Pluto through Saturn’s sign will be for you. In fact, I want you to OBSESSIVELY and COMPULSIVELY (Pluto words) do your Saturn. And encourage everyone you know to do his or her Saturn too.
